Tandoori Salmon

Tandoori Salmon

This is one of our favourite mid-week meals. Not only is Tandoori Salmon easy and quick to put together, it’s succulent and full of flavour. If you have enough time, prepare this recipe in advance and marinate the salmon for a few hours in the fridge or overnight before cooking. If you’re tight on time however, cooking it straight away will still turn out delicious.

Lemon in Tandoori Salmon

When trialling this recipe, I knew I was forgetting something when preparing the marinade. Checking I had made it ‘correctly’, yep hubby loves to dabble in the kitchen when I’m preparing, he quite smugly alerted me to the absence of lemon juice! I really don’t know how I missed it. So when it came to dinner time, he kindly reminded us why the Tandoori Salmon taste so good…  because ‘daddy remembered the lemon!’ I love lemon in a tandoori dish, it adds tangy-ness to the flavour and helps tenderise the fish.

Whilst all tandoori dishes are usually made in a tandoor, I’ve put the salmon straight into the oven to cook for around 10-15 minutes. I would love to own a tandoor oven, the food would taste amazing, but for now the oven will do. If you prefer, you could sear the salmon in a pan with some hot oil first and then put it in the oven to finish off the cooking process. Either way, it is a quick and healthy meal that requires little effort.

Useful tips for making Tandoori Salmon

  • Marinate the fish for as long as possible, however if you are in a rush, it can be cooked straight away, the flavours will still come through.

  1. I thought I’d give this recipe a try since I’ve been working from home lately – it’s really easy and tastes delicious! Being a father of two, I needed something quick to cook for the family and this recipe delivered. Very straight forward, no fuss and my wife and children absolutely loved it. I cooked this dish together with the naan bread recipe – definitely recommend both!

  2. This is a great recipe for a non-cook. Have tried this a couple of times, great tasting recipe. Found all the ingredients in my pantry, all available in your local Supermarkets or Asian shops. I don’t think it can be made any easier. Tastier with a bit of plain yogurt on the side.
